William Herbert Cowan, 74, passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Russellville Hospital.

Mr. Cowan was a native of Kentucky but had lived in this area for the past 40 years.  He was a member of Buena Vista Southern Missionary Baptist Church, Laurel, Indiana and was retired from Champion International Papers after 30 years of service.

The funeral service will be Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his children, William Fred Cowan, of Town Creek, Robert L. Cowan, James T. Cowan, both of Russellville, Rose Etta Parker and Debra Joan Hatfield, both of Town Creek; brothers, George Cowan, Herman Cowan, of Indiana, Maynard Cowan, of Moulton, and Roland Cowan, of Arizona; sister, Mary Rose Wolfe, of Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Etta Cowan; parents, Fred and Dicie Cowan; and brother, Ernest Cowan.

Pallbearers will be Bill Cowan, Christopher Cowan, Timothy Parker, and Michael Cowan.

Honorary bearers will be Richard Price, Donnie Young, Nathan Wolfe, Casey Smith, Teo Clark and Cody Fuller.
