Rev. Robert Lee Shotts, 84, of Dowling, Mich. passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 in Battle Creek, Mich. after a sixteen-year illness.  He was born April 29, 1926 in Vina, Ala. to Robert Paul and Lula Floy Thorn Shotts.  He was ordained to the ministry by Temple Baptist Church in Detroit, Mich. and was the pastor of churches in Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina and Michigan. He also taught high school in Bedford and Crawfordsville, Ind. He served in the U.S. Navy and Reserves for twelve years, ending his career as a Lieutenant.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Shottsville Community Church with burial in Shottsville Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Dorothy Shotts, Dowling, Mich.; six daughters, Judith Allen, of Greenville, S.C., Nita North and Lila Cheney, both of Dowling, Mich., Robin Bishop and Misty Harley, both of Columbia, S.C., Faith Shotts-Flikkema, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one son, Jonathan Shotts, of Hastings, Mich.; one sister, Judith Stewart, of Battle Creek, Mich.; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law and five sons-in-law.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dr. Ouida Shotts and a grandson, Peter Scott Shotts.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, at Shottsville Community Church.
