RHS seniors Malone, Witt attend Alabama Boys State

Bret Malone and Jackson Witt were chosen to represent Russellville High School at the 2010 73rd annual American Legion Alabama Boys State, held on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Malone’s activities at RHS include vice-president of Christian Students United, SADD-officer, Student Council representative, Annual Staff, National Honor Society, Franklin County Junior Leadership program and Varsity tennis.

Malone is the son of Richie and Angela Malone; and the grandson of George and Julia Malone and Louie and Jane Tippett.

Witt’s activities at RHS include vice-president of National Honor Society, Student Council representative, co-captain of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Annual Staff, Environmental Science club, Christian Students United, SADD, Franklin County Junior Leadership program and Varsity football.

Witt is the son of Billy and Lisa Witt; and the grandson of Charles and Mary Jackson, and Sheila Witt and the late Bill Witt.

Alabama Boys state is a leadership program for young men who have completed their junior year of high school and are expected to be campus leaders during their senior year.

It provides delegates with a working knowledge of how our government functions on the city, county and state levels.

Acceptance into Alabama Boys State is a privilege and granted by invitation only.

Delegates are selected by their school faculty and community leaders.

Alabama Boys State is sponsored by the American Legion and is directed by the retired Judge Pete Johnson of Birmingham. The Assistant Directors are Judge Joel Laird of Anniston and Ted Copeland of Carrolton.
