Russellville Park and Recreation to offer activities, meals this summer

Think you’re going to be bored this summer?

Well, think again. The Russellville Parks and Recreation Department has games and activities to occupy your time this summer.

Parks and Recreation Director Chad Sears said there would be games and activities offered from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at the Chucky Mullins Center and the Ralph C. Bishop Community Center.

“We have done this for years and it’s usually a popular program,” Sears said.

Two meals will be served for free at these locations.

“There will be a free breakfast and lunch available at these two locations during the summer,” Sears said.

Sears said this program is absolutely free of charge.

“We have also added two other locations to the meal program,” Sears said. “Breakfasts and lunches will be served at Eastside and Westside Apartments each day in addition to the regular locations.”

Sears said  Eastside and Westside would not have activities like the Chucky Mullins Center and the recreation center.

However, Sears said there would be a cap on the meals at Eastside and Westside.

“Thirty-five kids can eat breakfast and 50 lunches will be served at these two locations,” Sears said. “They will be available on a first come, first serve basis.”

Meals will also be served at West Elementary School this summer.

“We want to serve as  many children as possible this summer,” Sears said. “Counting the school, there are five locations inside the city where children can receive free meals.”

For more information on the activities or meals offered by the Parks and Recreation Department, call 332-8770 or 332-8730.
